Why a Lyon-based director in Monaco

The level of demand
of the Principality.

In Monaco, everything is scrutinised: the finish of an image, punctuality, discretion with guests. I work alone or in a small team, quietly, and I take care over colour grading and sound right up to the last version.

Advertising-grade visual effects

Compositing, 3D objects, visual integration: I make these shots in-house, with no external studio. A luxury house gains an extraordinary image without multiplying providers.

In detail

Three films that speak
the language of luxury.

A company party, an international confectioner’s stand, a film where supercars meet a legendary aircraft: three projects close to what Monegasque houses, hotels and organisers ask for. Each case study gives access to the film.

Koezio — 20 years, corporate event film

KOEZIO · 20 YEARS

One day, from games to party

For its twentieth anniversary, Koezio scheduled a team afternoon, conferences and an evening party. The film accompanies these three phases seamlessly, adapting the framing and light to each moment. A reception at the Sporting, a cocktail on a yacht or an evening at the Grimaldi Forum demand the same flexibility, and the same discretion towards guests.

Mars Wrigley stand at the TFWA show in Cannes

MARS WRIGLEY · TFWA · 2025

A global brand, a stand to bring to life

The world meeting point for airport shops and duty-free retail, the TFWA takes place in Cannes every autumn. For Mars Wrigley, I covered the whole stand: activities, tastings, meetings. Handheld shots, the show’s light, lively editing rhythm: the film captures the buzz of a brand space and extends its visibility well after the event. An approach that suits boutiques, trade shows and launches organised in Monaco.

VICTADOR · VFX AND COMPOSITING

Supercars, an SR-71 and a lot of precision

For this film run remotely, and entirely in English, with Yaxo, based in Toronto, an SR-71 Blackbird had to appear credibly behind supercars. With Adrien Lafourcade, we reworked the aircraft’s materials and placed the Victador logo on its flank; I did all the compositing, rotoscoping included, in Blender and Fusion. It is this standard that I put at the service of the automotive, watchmaking and nautical brands present in Monaco.

Choosing the right film

The format follows
the use.

A video for an online shop, a trade-show screen or a story during the Grand Prix has neither the same length nor the same rhythm. Here are the combinations I most often recommend to Monegasque brands and organisers.

Monaco, the practical side

Filming in Monaco: what to plan ahead.

Government permit

Any shoot in the Principality is declared to the Communication Department at least 15 days beforehand, via an online service. SBM sites have their own rules.

Drone: Monegasque approval

Professional use only: annual approval from Monaco Civil Aviation, permit before each flight, Palace never overflown.

Grand Prix and Yacht Show

Grand Prix in early June, Yacht Show in late September: circuit, quays and hotels are booked weeks in advance.

Brands and private venues

Casino, Hôtel de Paris: names and façades belong to the SBM; no filming in front of the Casino entrance during opening hours.

The districts

Six faces
of the Principality.

On about two square kilometres, Monaco lines up a historic rock, a superyacht harbour, a casino district, a business zone and an extension reclaimed from the sea. Here is what each brings to a shoot.

Monte-Carlo and the Carré d’Or

Casino, Hôtel de Paris, One Monte-Carlo, luxury boutiques: the most expected setting. SBM establishments issue their own permits, and the Casino entrance cannot be filmed during opening hours.

Port Hercule and La Condamine

Superyachts, La Condamine market, view of the Rock: the heart of the Yacht Show in September and the circuit in June. The rest of the year, a lively setting for yachting, restaurants and hospitality.

Monaco-Ville, the Rock

Princely Palace, cathedral, Oceanographic Museum, alleys: strong heritage, very busy with visitors. The Palace and its square are never overflown, and every shot there is carefully prepared.

Larvotto, Grimaldi Forum and Mareterra

The Grimaldi Forum, a congress centre of 35,000 m² of modular space built on the sea, hosts conventions, trade shows and performances; next to it, Larvotto beach and the new Mareterra district offer a contemporary setting.

Fontvieille

A district reclaimed from the sea, with offices, businesses, heliport, Stade Louis-II and marina: a practical, calm setting for an institutional video, an executive interview or working shots.

Beausoleil, Cap-d’Ail and the heights

On the French side, the Moyenne Corniche and the Tête de Chien, at La Turbie, offer overall views of the Principality. A solution when an aerial shot is not possible, provided French rules are respected.

Sizing it right

Small crew
or big set?

In Monaco, the size of the crew changes everything: access to venues, discretion towards guests, budget. Here is how to choose.

A big set

  • — Essential for a TV commercial or a multi-camera shoot.
  • — More formalities and more footprint on public space.
  • — A visible crew, hardly compatible with a private gala.
  • — A significantly higher budget.

A small crew (my approach)

  • + A director, and if needed a second operator or a sound recordist.
  • + Easier access in hotels, boutiques and yachts.
  • + A discreet presence among the guests.
  • + Visual effects and 3D made in-house.
  • + One quote, trip from Lyon included.

Brand film, gala, interview or trade show: a well-prepared small crew gives the best image at the right cost. For a TV commercial, a live broadcast or a shoot with casting, you need a production company: I tell you from the first exchange.

Portrait of Quentin Berguet, videographer and director

Your director

Quentin Berguet,
the same director.

Since 2018, I have been making films for brands, companies and institutions, from writing to post-production, visual effects included. For larger shoots, I bring together a second camera operator, dedicated sound recording or an assistant; you keep the same director from start to finish.

On the Riviera side, I worked for Mars Wrigley at the TFWA, and in Fréjus; on the visual effects side, for Victador with Yaxo. I do not live in Monaco: that is precisely why each shoot there is prepared in detail, formalities included.

FAQ · Monaco

Monaco,
in questions.

A question missing? Write to me: reply within 24 working hours.

How much should you budget for a shoot in Monaco?

The price depends on three things: the time spent filming and editing, the number of technicians, and options such as drone, 3D or several versions. For Monaco, add the train from Lyon and often a night on site; during the Grand Prix or the Yacht Show, accommodation costs much more. Each item appears separately in the quote, and my price guide explains the rest.

Does filming in Monaco require a permit?

Yes, always. Any shoot in the Principality, advertising, corporate film or photography, requires a request to the Government’s Communication Department, at least 15 days beforehand, via an online service. A public-domain occupation fee may apply. In a private venue, the owner’s consent is also required.

Can a drone be used in Monaco?

Only in a professional setting, and under strict conditions: the operator must hold an annual approval from the Monaco Civil Aviation Directorate, request a permit before each flight and equip drones with a parachute above 700 g as well as an identification system. The Palace and its square are never overflown, and drones may be banned during major events. My French certificate is not enough: we look together at the best option.

How do you get to Monaco from Lyon?

By train, about 5 h 40 with a change at Nice for the regional train along the coast, about ten services a day. By plane, Lyon – Nice takes under an hour, then road or train to the Principality. By car, allow about five hours. The chosen route appears in the quote.

Can the Casino or the Hôtel de Paris be filmed?

These venues belong to the Société des Bains de Mer, which issues its own filming permits; its names and brands remain its property. In front of the Casino entrance, filming is banned during opening hours. For a shoot inside, you must go through the SBM well in advance.

Is it possible to film during the Grand Prix?

Yes, for a brand, a hotel or a partner present at the event, with the necessary accreditations or private access (terrace, yacht, lounge). The circuit is set up several weeks before the race, in early June: traffic, accommodation and access must be planned very early, and drones may be banned.

And during the Monaco Yacht Show?

In late September, Port Hercule hosts over a hundred superyachts and hundreds of exhibitors. I can film your stand, a tour on board or a reception, with the organiser’s or owner’s consent. Days are packed: we prepare a precise schedule in advance.

Do you also work around Monaco?

Yes: Menton, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Beausoleil, Cap-d’Ail, Èze, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Nice and up to Cannes, where I have already filmed. Several shoots in the surrounding area can be chained during the same stay to lighten travel.

Does a luxury house need a production company?

Not necessarily. Brand portrait, interview or event: a director, supported if needed by a second operator, gives a polished image and more discretion. A TV campaign, casting or a multi-camera set, on the other hand, require a production company; my page on Nice video production describes these set-ups.

Can you film on board a yacht?

Yes, if the owner or operator gives consent, dockside or at sea. On board, space is tight and the light changes fast: I work light, stabilise the image and plan exterior shots from the quay or a tender when possible. Drone flights remain subject to Monegasque rules.

Do you deliver English versions?

Yes. In Monaco, a good share of clients and guests do not speak French: English subtitles, interviews conducted in English (the Victador project ran entirely in that language) and, for Italian or other languages, integration of a translation approved by you.

How to preserve the confidentiality of a private event?

We define before the shoot what can be filmed and released: guests not to show, private areas, brands present. I have a release signed by people filmed up close, I deliver the images through a private link and I publish nothing, not even in my portfolio, without your consent.

When to film in Monaco?

Outside the Grand Prix and the Yacht Show, the Principality is smoother and hotels more accessible. April-May and October offer beautiful light; in summer, I favour early morning and late afternoon to avoid the crowds and the heat.

What rights do you hold on the videos?

The delivered videos are licensed to you for your communication uses: website, social media, client meetings, digital advertising. For TV broadcast or billboards, the licence is adapted in the quote. In Monaco, also think about brands and venues visible on screen: those of the SBM, for example, cannot be used commercially without consent.
