Why entrust me with your Cannes shoot

The rhythm of trade shows,
I already know it.

A conference at the Palais is not filmed like a factory: crowded aisles, tight schedules, people in a hurry. I learned this tempo in the field, and I combine it with writing, editing and visual effects.

Compositing, animated objects, motion design: I produce these shots myself. A brand at an international trade show gains images that set it apart in the aisles.

Lessons learned

What these shoots
taught me.

A Cannes trade show, a mass sports event, an official ceremony: three demanding settings, three different set-ups. The details of each project, with the film, are on its page.

Mars Wrigley stand at the TFWA show in Cannes

MARS WRIGLEY · TFWA · 2025

Telling a stand’s story without disturbing it

Every autumn, the TFWA brings together the duty-free and travel-retail players at the Palais des Festivals. Mars Wrigley wanted a video true to the atmosphere of its stand: tastings, activities, exchanges with visitors. At a trade show, the difficulty is space: little room to step back, lots of foot traffic, sales meetings not to be interrupted. So I filmed handheld, favouring ambient light and spontaneous gestures. The punchy, colourful edit brings the stand back to life for those who could not come.

Runners at the Afterwork Running in Valence

VALENCE · AFTERWORK RUNNING · 2025

2,500 participants, one story

For its race evening, the Afterwork Running event drew more than 2,500 employees from 170 companies to the Parc de l’Épervière. At a gathering this size, the risk is coming home with hundreds of shots and no storyline. So beforehand, I defined with the organisers the highlights to cover: the start, the effort, the 700 m² village, the finish. On the day, I filmed as close to the runners as possible; the official film shows the size of the gathering and the wish to come back. The same logic applies to a conference of several thousand people at the Palais.

DGAEV film at Les Invalides, 14 July

DGAEV · INVALIDES · 2022

An official event, filmed with tact

For the DGAEV, the 14 July commemoration at Les Invalides had to become a film that was both restrained and alive. No second chances here: every speech, every symbolic gesture happens only once. Coordination with the organising team let me anticipate movements and position myself without disturbing the protocol. This sense of etiquette also serves at the award ceremonies and official conferences that punctuate the Cannes calendar.

What I film

What I film in Cannes.

Palais exhibitors, event organisers, hotels, brands launching, companies from the neighbouring technology park: in Cannes, every request has its own calendar. I build the shoot around your goal and the constraints of the place.

01

Stand and trade show video

TFWA, MIPIM, MIPCOM, Cannes Lions: I film your presence at the show, your activities, your talks and your meetings, for a film to publish in the days that follow. I adapt to the Palais’s hours and the crowds in the aisles.

Content for Instagram and LinkedIn

Reels, stories, video carousels: during a festival or a trade show, the vertical format brings your presence to life. I produced the OLY launch videos in 9:16, for Teddy Riner’s app, and handled a large part of the editing of the ASPTT’s 240 MOOVA sessions.

Drone on the Riviera

DGAC-certified drone pilot. In Cannes, a professional flight needs the agreement of the Town Hall, the DGAC and the Prefecture; the Old Port is a no-fly zone and a beach must be closed to the public. I tell you at the quote stage what is realistic.

Cannes, a user’s guide

Filming in Cannes: the rules to know.

Online application, 20 days ahead

The Town Hall processes shoots on public land: purpose, times, equipment, plan. The application is free; on beaches, the State may charge a fee.

Drone tightly regulated

Recreational flying banned across the whole commune, Old Port banned even for professionals. Elsewhere: Town Hall, DGAC and Prefecture.

Conference calendar

Festival in May, Cannes Lions in June, TFWA and MIPCOM in autumn: hotels and access are booked early.

Light and heat

In summer, I film early in the morning and at the end of the day: softer light, a less crowded Croisette.

The settings

Cannes, from the Croisette
to the hinterland.

Within a few kilometres, you go from the red carpet to a fishing port, from a grand hotel to a technology park. Six atmospheres to consider for your shoot.

Palais des Festivals

The heart of the big professional events: Festival, Cannes Lions, MIPIM, MIPCOM, TFWA. Inside, everything depends on the show organiser and the exhibitor; outside, the forecourt and the steps draw crowds all year round.

La Croisette and its hotels

Grand-hotel façades, private beaches, palm trees and a view of the bay: the ideal setting for a hotel, a luxury brand or a gala evening. In high season, the crowds mean filming early.

Le Suquet and the Old Port

Sloping alleys, views over the town, fishing boats and yachts: a more authentic Cannes. Note that flying a drone over the port is banned, even for a professional.

Pointe Croisette and Port Canto

To the east of the bay, the Port Pierre-Canto hosts, each September, together with the Old Port, the Cannes Yachting Festival. A nautical setting for shipyards, sector brands and services for boaters.

La Bocca and the west

A residential and industrial district, where Thales Alenia Space assembles and tests satellites in vast clean rooms. For an industrial or technology film: workshops, processes and technical teams.

Sophia Antipolis and the hinterland

Between Cannes and Antibes, the Sophia Antipolis technology park brings together digital companies, laboratories and research centres. Mougins and Grasse offer estates and villas for seminars and brand films.

Agencies and advertisers

Event agency
or brand: who does what?

On the Croisette, I work for event agencies as well as for brands. Here is how I fit in in each case.

For an event agency

  • — I film under your direction, alongside your client.
  • — I respect your guidelines, your deadlines and the event’s running order.
  • — You remain the brand’s main contact.
  • — Examples: TEMPO Events.

For a brand or an organiser

  • + I take care of the script, the filming and the editing.
  • + I advise you on the formats to plan before the show.
  • + Visual effects and animation made with no subcontractor.
  • + Extra camera or sound support for larger formats.
  • + A single quote, travel included.

For a very large set-up — multi-camera studio, live broadcast, a large crew over several days — a full production company is better. I tell you frankly, and I can point you in the right direction.

Portrait of Quentin Berguet, videographer and director

Behind the camera

Quentin Berguet,
Lyon director.

I have been filming and editing since 2018. From writing to colour grading, via filming, sound, editing and visual effects: I master the whole chain. Depending on the size of the shoot, I bring in a second operator, a sound recordist or an assistant. On the Riviera as elsewhere, your contact stays the same.

In Cannes, I filmed the Mars Wrigley stand at the TFWA; elsewhere, I have worked for the DGAEV, Koezio and the ASPTT. My goal does not change: a film that truly serves your message.

Questions about Cannes

Filming in Cannes:
your questions.

Another question? Write to me: reply guaranteed within 24 business hours.

What costs are added for a shoot in Cannes?

On top of filming and post-production come the trip from Lyon (about four hours by TGV) and, for several days on site, accommodation. During the big conferences, hotel prices rise: booking early limits the bill. Everything is detailed in the quote, and the site’s pricing guide explains the other factors.

How do I get a filming permit in Cannes?

The application is made online on the Town Hall’s website, at least 20 days ahead: purpose of the shoot, brand, times, equipment, address and plan. It is free. On beaches, the State may ask for a fee via the DDTM. In a private venue or on a stand, the owner’s or organiser’s agreement is enough.

Can you fly a drone in Cannes?

Sometimes, with a lot of lead time. Recreational flying is banned across the whole commune and the Old Port is a no-fly zone, even for a professional. Elsewhere, you need the Town Hall’s agreement, DGAC authorisation and the Prefecture’s acknowledgement, with a perimeter free of public. I check feasibility before promising it.

Can you deliver a video right after a show?

Yes: a first short video can go out less than 72 hours after the show ends, while your contacts still remember it. The full film follows, generally within two to three weeks.

Do you work for event agencies?

Yes. In Cannes, TEMPO Events, a Cannes agency, twice entrusted me with promotional videos for one of its clients. I fit into your running order, respect your relationship with the brand and deliver on your deadlines.

How many versions before the final one?

The quote includes between two and four rounds of revisions. You receive each version online, you annotate, I correct: everything is handled remotely, with no need for you to travel.

What should I plan for filming on a stand at the Palais?

Supplier access, which the exhibitor requests from the show organiser, and a slot for shots without the public, often before opening. I can also edit a silent looped version for your screens, at the resolution of your monitors.

Do you travel elsewhere on the French Riviera?

Yes: Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, Mougins, Grasse, Sophia Antipolis, Mandelieu-La Napoule, Nice, Monaco or Saint-Tropez, and I have already filmed in Fréjus. Grouping several shoots in the region into one stay reduces travel costs.

Is a production company better for Cannes?

For a live multi-camera recording, a studio set or a large crew over several days, yes: the page on Cannes video production presents this kind of set-up. For a stand film, an interview or a brand film, a director alone or lightly supported is enough.

Do I need to book far in advance?

For the weeks of the Festival, Cannes Lions, MIPIM, MIPCOM or TFWA, the earlier the better: hotels fill up and access is negotiated early. Outside these periods, two to three weeks is often enough to prepare a shoot.

How do you prepare an interview during a conference?

We set in advance the list of speakers, a quiet place near the rooms and short slots. I send the questions the day before; on site, setting up the frame and the sound takes little time, so as not to encroach on the sessions.

Do you also film content in English?

The audience at Cannes shows is very international. I can film English-speaking participants and deliver subtitles in English as well as French; a voice-over can also be added.

Can we film on the water or on a yacht?

Yes, on a private boat with its owner’s agreement. If the shoot causes a gathering of boats that hampers navigation, a DDTM permit must be requested at least two months ahead. Ports have their own rules, and drones are banned there.

Who owns the footage filmed at a trade show?

The delivered videos are yours for all your communication: website, social media, presentations, online campaigns. For TV broadcast or billboards, we adapt the rights in the quote. At a trade show, also think about the image rights of visitors filmed up close: I favour wide shots or people’s consent.
