What matters in Saint-Tropez

Filming without being
noticed.

In the gulf, many events bring together guests who do not want to appear everywhere. The film must capture the atmosphere and elegance of a place while respecting everyone’s privacy: it is as much a question of method as of image.

The trip, anticipated

Allow about four and a half hours by road from Lyon, or the high-speed train to Saint-Raphaël then the road. In summer, access to the peninsula is saturated: arrival the day before, travel at off-peak hours.

Case studies

Party, art
and luxury image.

An anniversary day that ends in an evening party, a film about artists for a museum, a supercar and a legendary aircraft brought together on screen: three projects in tune with the expectations of the gulf’s hotels, galleries and brands.

Koezio’s 20th anniversary party

KOEZIO · 20 YEARS

From the team afternoon to the evening party

For its twentieth anniversary, Koezio scheduled a team afternoon, conferences and an evening party. The film accompanies these three phases seamlessly, adapting the framing and light to each moment. A private party on an estate in Ramatuelle or a corporate event on the peninsula demand the same flexibility, and the same discretion towards guests.

Still from the film made for the Musée Henri-Martin in Cahors

MUSÉE HENRI MARTIN

An artist’s eye, filmed for a museum

A couple of painters, Jeffrey & Sally, and a museum in the Lot that wanted to make them known, the Musée Henri Martin. I handled the direction, filming and editing: a slow, attentive documentary where natural light and gesture count more than words. Around the Musée de l’Annonciade, the gulf’s galleries and studios often expect this kind of film.

Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae, Victador VFX film

VICTADOR · VFX

A supercar, a legendary aircraft, one image

Victador wanted to bring together on screen supercars, Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae included, and an SR-71 Blackbird. A project led in English by Yaxo, from Toronto; I handled the compositing and rotoscoping in Fusion, and Adrien Lafourcade supported me on the aircraft’s materials and logo. For a luxury brand in the gulf, these tools add to a film what no shoot alone can bring together.

Saint-Tropez, the practical side

Filming in Saint-Tropez: the local rules.

Town permit

Online form, insurance certificate, bank details and company registration: seven days processing minimum, with a daily fee.

The name “Saint-Tropez”

The Town has registered it as a trademark: commercial use (title, product) requires consent, and the credits read “Ville de Saint-Tropez”.

Busy periods

Easter, July and August: traffic is very difficult; Place des Lices is taken on market mornings.

Les Voiles

From 26 September to 4 October in 2026, the harbour lived to the rhythm of the regattas: every autumn, accommodation and quays are stormed.

Gulf settings

Saint-Tropez,
from harbour to vineyards.

The village, its beaches and the vine-covered hills offer very different atmospheres a few minutes apart. Six areas to consider.

Old Port and La Ponche

Colourful façades, quays and alleys of the fishermen’s quarter: the emblematic setting, to be filmed at first light, before terraces and strollers invade the frame.

Place des Lices

Plane trees, boules court and cafés: a very sought-after village setting. On Tuesday and Saturday mornings, market days, the square is saturated: to be avoided for a shoot.

Citadel and Annonciade

The citadel and its view over the gulf, the Annonciade Museum on the harbour: cultural venues for an art film, an exhibition or a brand that wants to be part of the village’s history.

Pampelonne and the beaches

In the municipality of Ramatuelle, beach establishments are filmed with each operator’s consent, preferably outside peak hours.

Ramatuelle and Gassin estates

Vines, cellars and country houses: a prized setting for an estate film, a tasting or a corporate dinner, with superb light at sunset.

Port Grimaud and Sainte-Maxime

On the other side of the gulf, the lake city and the neighbouring resort: hotels, event venues and views of Saint-Tropez from the opposite shore.

Private or public

What stays private,
what gets published.

On the peninsula, many guests value their discretion. Before the event, we distinguish what will be reserved for participants and what the brand can show.

Reserved for guests

  • — A keepsake film sent privately.
  • — Recognisable faces, with their consent.
  • — A protected viewing link.
  • — No release on social media.

Publishable by the brand

  • + Atmosphere shots without identifiable faces.
  • + People who have signed a release.
  • + Clips approved before publication.
  • + Vertical formats for social media.
  • + The venue’s name cited according to its rules.

Both versions are prepared during the same shoot, if planned in advance. For a multi-camera recording or a live broadcast, you need to go through a production company.

Portrait of Quentin Berguet, videographer and director

Behind the camera

Quentin Berguet,
videographer based in Lyon.

I have filmed, edited and made my own animations myself since 2018. For an evening or an extended event, I work with a second operator; you deal with one person, and your guests only see a small crew.

On the Riviera side, my references: the Mars Wrigley stand at the TFWA show. Elsewhere: the DGAEV’s 14 July, Koezio’s twenty years, the Musée Henri Martin, Victador. For Saint-Tropez, I come to scout the venue when the event justifies it.

FAQ · Saint-Tropez

Saint-Tropez:
frequently asked questions.

A question that does not appear here? Write to me: reply within the business day.

What budget should you plan for filming in Saint-Tropez?

The budget depends on writing, shooting and editing days, and options (drone, short versions, animation). For Saint-Tropez, add the trip from Lyon, often one or two nights on site in season, and the municipal fee if filming on the public highway. The site’s pricing guide details each item.

Is a town hall permit needed?

Yes, as soon as you film on the municipality’s public highway: online form, then insurance certificate, bank details and company registration sent to the Attractiveness – Events department. Allow at least seven days for processing and a daily fee. Outside the built-up area, other managers come in: the Département, the Conservatoire du littoral, the prefecture for overflight.

Can the name “Saint-Tropez” be used in a brand film?

With caution: the Town has registered “Saint-Tropez” and “Saint-Trop’” as trademarks. A film title, a product or any commercial use of the name must be authorised by the municipality; I flag this point from the writing stage. In the credits, the mention reads “Ville de Saint-Tropez”.

How do you protect guests’ privacy?

Before the event, we define who agrees to be filmed up close, with a written release, and the zones or moments without cameras. For the others, I favour atmosphere shots, shots from behind or blurred ones. The keepsake film can remain private, with a protected link.

Can you film during Les Voiles?

For a brand, a partner or a crew, it is possible, in liaison with the organisers. The 2026 edition took place from 26 September to 4 October; for the next one, it is best to book accommodation and access from spring.

Lyon–Saint-Tropez, how does it work?

Simply: about four and a half hours by road, or the high-speed train to Saint-Raphaël (≈ 3 h 30 for the fastest) then nearly an hour by car off-season. In summer, access to the peninsula is very busy: I arrive the day before.

Do you film private parties?

Yes: dinners, company anniversaries, launches, brand parties. I stay discreet, respect the organiser’s and venues’ instructions, and quickly deliver a keepsake film, as well as clips if the brand can publish.

Do you work throughout the gulf?

Yes: Ramatuelle, Gassin, Grimaud, Port Grimaud, Cogolin, Sainte-Maxime, La Croix-Valmer, Cavalaire, and further afield Fréjus, Saint-Raphaël or Cannes.

Is a larger crew needed for a big event?

For an evening party, a venue or portraits, a videographer-director accompanied if necessary by a second camera operator is enough. For a concert filmed with several cameras, live broadcast or a programme, a production company takes over: the page Cannes video production details these resources.

And for a wine estate?

Yes: vines, cellar, harvest, tastings, portraits of the winemaker. The shoot follows the estate’s calendar and the light, very different in the morning and the evening.

And a hotel or a private beach?

Yes, preferably outside peak hours or before the season opens, to show the spaces without disturbing clients. Clients on screen give their consent; the others stay out of frame.

When to film in Saint-Tropez?

May, June and September: softer light and more reasonable crowds. In high summer, I mostly film at dawn and dusk, when the streets calm down.

Who approves before release?

You, and if needed the venue or the people concerned: each version is shared online and commented frame by frame. Nothing is published without your green light.

For which uses are the films delivered?

For your website, social media, presentations and trade shows. The music is licensed accordingly; television or billboards are negotiated in the quote.
